Kaleidoscope of Long

這就是 Kaleidoscope of Long。

Kaleidoscope of Long

The Client
Xu Zhanrong (Keelong), leader of the acclaimed creative collective These Guys. He and his twin brother Zhanrui share the same Aquarian sign, yet their souls speak in entirely different voices.

Keelong’s Aquarian Spirit
An experimenter. A style curator. An unfettered innovator. When a home must hold such diverse creativity, passion, and possibility, how should design respond?
The answer: offer no fixed frame—only a kaleidoscope that turns at will.

The Tube of the Kaleidoscope
We built the “tube” with precision and intent. The space is anchored in deep graphite gray and warm walnut. Expansive walnut cabinetry forms bold, block-like volumes, its grain wrapping the home in a tactile warmth. Graphite lines carve crisp architectural edges, together creating a stable, layered canvas.
From the entryway, a brushed stainless-steel storage wall catches the light, guiding movement inward. Its visual destination: a floating vinyl-record wall—both a threshold between foyer and living room and a gentle lead toward the dining island.
From living room to master suite, walls clad in raw, fair-faced concrete panels quietly stitch public and private realms together, their rugged texture extending the home’s depth and breadth. A perfect tube, after all, exists to stage the most spectacular turns.

Motion as the Soul of Home
Here, the soul lies in movement. A 180-degree rotating television dissolves boundaries—living room, dining area, even the purposeful “negative space” beyond all share the same imagery.
This deliberate void is the owner’s reserve of maximum flexibility: at times a yoga mat unfurls, at times it becomes a dance floor, or an impromptu art studio. The generous dining island doubles as a convivial gathering table and Keelong’s creative workstation. Every design choice reflects his rule-breaking spirit, allowing the home’s functions to keep pace with his ever-leaping ideas.
With the stage set, the fragments of the owner’s soul step into the light—each turn revealing a new facet of his shifting world.

The Fragments Within
In this kaleidoscope, each fragment catches the light—his taste, his passion, his quiet tenderness—scattering them across the home in ever-changing patterns.
At the entry, vinyl records suspended on slender steel cables sway like musical notes on a staff. A vivid orange sofa bursts against the calm palette, a spark of warmth and fire. His gentleness lives in the custom cat features: an aerial walkway above the sofa with a hidden entrance tucked into cabinetry; beside the dining area, walnut storage discreetly conceals a litter box and supplies, its playful round cut-out marking the cats’ private passage.

Kaleidoscope of Long is a home without a rigid script—faithfully spinning alongside its owner’s soul, revealing in every turn and refraction the luminous mosaic we call life.
