About the Title

In Chinese, “經 (Jing)” refers to the homeowner’s daily sutra-chanting practice, while “心 (Xin)” signifies both the serene state that follows and the wholehearted care behind the design. Read in reverse, the two characters allude to the Heart Sutra (心經, Xīnjīng), underscoring the project’s spiritual essence.

Introduction

Faith and life are not two separate worlds but a gentle dialogue. Inspired by this, we conceived the public realm as a Buddhist prayer hall—an inner haven where the homeowner’s daily chanting and prayers find resonance.

 

Public Area:

Where Faith Meets Everyday Life We treated the TV wall as an installation that gives form to this dialogue. At its heart sits a Buddhist altar whose daily recitations condense into a stabilizing halo of light, guiding the mind to stillness.

• On the left, dream-like worldly mementos rest on transparent glass shelves, their ephemeral nature self-evident.

• On the right, a cabinet of vertical wooden slats exudes a steady solidity that gently settles worldly distractions.

Positioned at the corridor’s end, the altar naturally draws the family’s gaze as they move between private rooms and the shared space. This presence is not a lofty ritual display but a gentle reminder woven into daily life.

Subtle floor-level shifts in the living room delineate the gathering area without interrupting sightlines. Above, soft ceiling curves and indirect lighting evoke clouds filtering light, creating an airy canopy over this spiritual haven.
